Italy by Iraide Ezpeleta

 

 My name is Iraide Ezpeleta and during the spring I had one of the best experiences in my life. 

Today I’m going to speak about plenty of activities we did in Italy. 

But my favorite is Elba.

First, our host families took us to the port, where a boat was waiting for us. We went  to the island of Elba. We took a sightseeing tour of the island with a local guide. It was pretty interesting, and it helped us improve and learn new English words since our teachers booked the tour in English. After the tour, we had some time left, so we went to a beautiful beach full of white rocks and crystal-clear water. We spent a couple of hours there eating, swimming, and sunbathing. The boat took us back to Piombino at 5p.m.. The families were waiting for us to do some activities. They took us to watch the sunset. Afterward, I went to dinner with my friends Adele, Alessio, and Uxue at Alessio’s family’s restaurant, and  honestly  the food was incredible. I loved everything.

school day.

During our entire stay, we went to school twice. I’m going to talk about the second day.

We started by getting up at 7 a.m. and having breakfast. The mother drove us to school, and classes began at 8:10. We went into the first class, which was math, and stayed there for the whole hour. The second class was physics and chemistry, which also lasted the whole hour. Then there was a break for lunch, and our teachers took us to see the school for the younger children. Afterward, we returned to school and finished painting the ceramic shapes we had made on the first day. They turned out pretty nice, to be honest. We went home by bus, which was pretty fun. At home, we ate, rested for a while, and we were taken to see some caves and things from prehistoric times. The families picked us up and took us to the beach where we went swimming and had a great time. Since it was our last day together, we all had dinner at a pizzeria, which was a lot of fun. For dessert, we had ice cream, and then we went to rest because the next day, ROME was waiting for us!!!

Erasmus+ is an opportunity to share a house, customs, timetables… 

At first when you arrive it is very rare because you don’t know them, maybe you don’t understand them. Their house isn’t yours: bigger, smaller, with pets, without pets, with siblings, without siblings. But not only that!! When somebody comes to your house, you must prepare your room, your house…   

The most important things are respect and kindness. 

I was lucky and I had the best host family ever, they were as excited as I was and that made everything much easier. My host mom was so kind and sweet and she was always worried about me telling me if I wanted something or if everything was ok. My host dad was also very kind and he was funny and always had something to speak about. My host brother was a very happy person and respectful. But Adele was the girl who came to my house and she was the best. She was kind, funny and she was always happy. She was perfect for me because I was never sad. They all made my time in Piombino unforgettable.

My host sister’s friends:

We always speak about the activities we do or about the places we visit but we never talk about the people that make our trip better.

These are the friends of our host families.

Adele had incredible friends apart from the ones that came to Bilbao (that they were amazing). She had friends like Marta, Viola, Ilaria and more. They all were so kind and funny. We learned so many things about the different cultures and we also made a dance battle (we won obviously). It was sooo funny. They made my experience the best. Love you so much!
